About Ensenada

It is not just the sea-side city, but the largest municipality in Baja California. Its territorial waters both in the Pacific Ocean as in the Gulf of California make it one of the country’s largest areas for fishing and whale-watching; and its mountains are part of two high-sierra mountain systems, which make them a great place for camping and hiking. The Mediterranean climate and its location in the Northern Hemisphere Wine Region makes the Valle de Guadalupe Mexico’s prime wine producing area and there are ways to explore it.

Ensenada has had its share of legend, as it resisted pirate invasions during past centuries and became the State’s first capital. The port of Ensenada as well as its location less than 100 miles from the border with the United States makes it one of Mexico’s main gates to commerce with countries from this continent and Asia. Seafood is a must, available in elegant restaurants as well as in stands on the streets and specialized areas in the city. Not far from Ensenada (about 17 miles towards the coast) is “La Bufadora” marine geyser, one of Mexico’s most beautiful wonders of nature.

Ensenada has sea, mountain, desert, and other different attractions year long that make it worthwhile to venture into inner Baja.
